 但是，人类过分地依靠自然资源使得生态环境受到破坏，大地变得寸草不生。世界上本来并没有路，但是走的人多了，路自然就形成了。 
 以「魅力物语」著称的英雄传说系列终于迎来了新作。随着《英雄传说III——白发魔女》(94年发售)、《英雄传说IV——朱红的泪》(96年发售)以及《英雄传说V——海之槛歌》(99年发售)这3部作品所构成的「卡卡布三步曲」结束之后，续作的世界背景转向新的世界舞台。《英雄传说VI——空之轨迹》日语版已于2004年夏季在玩家面前登场，第三代英雄传说系列的出现必定引起一番新的游戏热潮。 
 技术革命之后，尤其是导力器的发明，使人们的生活进入飞跃性的富裕时代。游戏舞台位于列强罅缝中的独立小国——利贝尔，积极开朗主人公艾丝蒂尔和弟弟约修亚为了成为游击士，在各国展开冒险旅程，在他们面前将会是各种各样的难关…… 
 注重游戏剧情是英传系列固有的传统，而且空之轨迹会引入一些崭新的元素来丰富游戏的可玩性，例如全新的魔法系统、场景视觉多角度变换、画面唯美的3D化、对白中增加角色头像、游戏主题曲等等，无论如何《英雄传说VI——空之轨迹》都是一款值得期待的作品。 
 一种以保护市民安全以及维护地区和平为首要目，从事消灭魔兽和防止犯罪等任务的特殊职业。游击士并不归属于特定的国家，他们的行事立场是中立的，而且活动范围广阔，因此成为一名游击士是很多孩子们的梦想。 
 在利贝尔王国的洛连特长大的少女艾丝蒂尔自幼向往游击士职业，其父亲也是一名声名显赫的游击士，因此她也立志能成为其中的一员。她和弟弟约修亚以成为游击士为目标，一起埋头于各种各样的修行。有一天，艾丝蒂尔的父亲卡西乌斯收到一封信，看完信后他得知有大事发生便留下艾丝蒂尔和约修亚独自启程。随着父亲的突然离开，作为见习游击士的两人为了成为真正的游击士也决定踏上游击士的冒险旅程。 
 新的时代人们生活是靠一种叫做导力器的技术所支撑着。 50年前，导力革命所带来的导力器，被应用于以飞船为首的各种各样技术领域中，让人们的生活进入飞跃性的富裕时代。另一方面，很多国家为了开发拥有导力力量的兵器而展开激烈的争夺，成为霸权国家成为很多国家的意图……在这个错综复杂的时代里，大陆陷入了混乱之中。这个时代，有一个生存于列强罅缝中的独立小国——利贝尔。 
 以利贝尔为舞台的起点，主人公艾丝蒂尔将在冒险旅途上遇到各色各样的人物，以成为正式游击士为目标的她，揭开了故事的序幕。
